Shia Kalma (Kalima of Faith) with Arabic Text and Translation

The Shia Kalma, also known as the “Declaration of Faith” or the “Testimony,” holds immense significance in the life of a Momin (believer). It is a proclamation of belief in the Oneness of Allah (SWT), the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the divine authority of Imam Ali (AS) as the rightful successor.

Here is the Shia Kalma in Arabic and its English translation:

Shia Kalma in Arabic

أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأشهد أن محمداً رسول الله، وأشهد أن علياً ولي الله

Translation in English

“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,
and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,
and I bear witness that Ali is the Wali (Friend/Authority) of Allah.”

Significance of the Shia Kalma

  1. Tawhid (Oneness of Allah): The first part of the Kalma emphasizes the monotheistic belief that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.
  2. Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH): The second part affirms belief in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the final Messenger of Allah, whose teachings guide humanity to the path of righteousness.
  3. Wilayat of Imam Ali (AS): The third part highlights Imam Ali (AS) as the divinely appointed Wali and successor of the Prophet (PBUH), emphasizing his spiritual and temporal authority in Islam.
